Napa Valley WineriesNapa Valley Wineries, located in one of the premier wine-making regions of the world, produce world-class wines. For over a century, Napa Valley Wineries have been perfecting the art of winemaking. With as many as 5 million people visiting each year, Napa is the second most popular tourist destination in California, second only to Disneyland. Consisting of 15 sub-appellations, Napa offers over 300 wineries spanning 8 cities. The most popular varietals from Napa Valley are Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay; however, Napa also specializes in Merlot, Zinfandel, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sangiovese. Napa Wine Tours has provided detailed information on one of Napa's premier wineries - Silver Oak Cellars. We have also created a list below of Napa's sub-appellations with an example of the premium wineries found in each. Check back frequently as we rotate select Napa Valley Wineries. SPOTLIGHT ON SILVER OAK CELLARSIn 1972, Silver Oak Cellars produced their first harvest. Each estate, one in Alexander Valley, another in Napa's Oakville, is dedicated to exclusively producing Cabernet Sauvignon. Each tasting room is impressive. In Alexander Valley, the Geyserville estate is surrounded by vineyards, trees, and rolling hills. The Oakville estate, completely rebuilt in 2008 after a fire burned the original historic building in 2006, is unforgettable. Upon entering, visitors view the water tower featured on Silver Oaks' labels, and the stone of the main building. The tasting room features a Glass House Library of Silver Oak wines, and a History Gallery featuring salvaged pieces from the original winery. Silver Oak credits part of the success of their wines to an extended aging process beginning in handmade American Oak Barrels and ending with lengthy storage inside each bottle. Tasting rooms at both estates are open Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and closed Sundays and December 25th. Visit Silver Oak Cellars for more information.
